Decrease in Duds: Winemakers/owners are investing more than ever in technology that gives them a leading edge on producing the best quality wines possible from their respective regions. From automatic sorting tables, to tanks that are equipped with precise temperature controls, and even drones for analyzing temperature fluctuation and berry ripeness…the wine world is making strides on improving quality control everyday. The benefit to us is a decrease in bottles of poor quality, and an increased confidence that the wine we spend our hard earned money on should result in a good (aka not spoiled and ideally tasty) wine.
And while advancements in the wine world continue, I am also grateful that there is a surge in awareness at the same time of the need to consider organic and biodynamic farming practices that make arguably cleaner tasting fruit, as well as being better as a whole for our ecosystem. By combining the good of farming with the good of making, we on the cork-popping side get to enjoy more of the good in the bottle. Cheers!
