with a pool, hammocks beautiful gardens and even monkeys howling in the trees! I felt this overwhelming sense of calm and happiness.

Could this really be my life? No, of course not. It’s just a silly dream, I told myself. I know nothing about tourism and hospitality. Then I thought, there are thousands of people all over the world running hotels, they cannot all be smarter than me! And just like that, I made the decision. I would fight for it. I went back to London and, after much additional research, I made an offer on Tamarindo Backpackers. When my offer was accepted, I sold my house and resigned from my job. On June 4th, 2013, I landed in Tamarindo, Costa Rica with my dog Alfie and two suitcases; scared, but ready to start my new life.

breakfast at Matty’s Deli. I then went to my daily yoga class with friends at Mermaids and Sailors. I checked in quickly at my hostel, which is full for 4th of July weekend, and now I sit writing this article while listening to ocean waves crashing nearby. What I have gained by making this huge change is the freedom to spend my time how I want, doing yoga and meditating, which has helped me to focus and relieve stress. I read the books I want and take on projects that interest me, like writing this article!

Changing your life really can be that easy. The hardest part is making the decision. You simply have to just do it and not look back.

Of course, its not practical for everyone to pick up their life and move to the beach. You may be happy and fulfilled in your job, but perhaps wish you had a little more time for yourself. Finding that time is within your power. You just need to remind yourself to turn off your laptop, exit your email, and do something for yourself, not for your job. As you can imagine, you will be a much happier, calmer person.
