The 7 Step Ritual
Laug – Your first steps into the geothermal lagoon from the inside of the building are magical. The warmth surrounds you instantly with each step into the water. Steam rises around you as you embrace the heat. Your body begins to relax. As you walk through the water away from the framework of the structure, you begin to see the breathtaking views of the Atlantic, the waterfall, lava cliffs, infinity edge of the lagoon and even the colors of the sky. To see it in person is better than any words can describe.
Kuldi – The cold plunge may be a hard next step after the warmth of the lagoon but the benefits are worth it. Get ready for your senses to be engaged and awakened as you enter the water which is inspired by Iceland’s ancient Snorralaug pool. Cold therapy stimulates your immune system and reduces inflammation, while also providing a natural endorphin.
As you move towards step 3 in the Ritual, you will enter the Turf House. This Icelandic building design has been around for centuries with the intention of providing comfort during times of extreme weather.
Ylur – As you enter the sauna, the floor to ceiling window provides a view of the Atlantic that is mesmerizing. The room’s heat coupled with the water’s peacefulness brings a calmness as your skin benefits from the heat by opening your pores and promoting detoxification. There are two saunas to choose from. One is device free to allow privacy to guests but has the same views.
Suld – Iceland’s weather is a natural part of their life including the winds and cool air. Here you will experience a refreshing crisp, energizing mist that closes your pores and refreshes your skin following the sauna step.
Mykt – The addition of Sky Body Scrub made with almond oil and sesame seed oil is a cleansing sea salt scrub designed to invigorate your skin. Each guest is given their own dish with the scrub to apply to their skin before entering the steam room.
GFA – Open your pores in the warmth of the steam room to absorb the therapeutic elements of the Skjól ritual and body scrub.
Saft – Found in the lava fields are crowberries (kraekiber), a black edible berry. This flavorful and delicious elixir shot is a mixture of Icelandic herbal tea and crowberry juice that are filled with antioxidants and Vitamin C.
Before leaving the Turf House, you will take a cleansing shower that rinses off the sea scrub leaving your skin so smooth. You will then head back to the lagoon for your final walk through the geothermal water to return to the outside world,
When you have completed the 7 Step Ritual, your skin feels smooth and hydrated, your body feels relaxed and your mind is at peace. It Is an indescribable experience.
