You made it! Congratulations… to the new year that is. You’ve done all your reflecting on the previous year, created a plan for the next, and vowed to either make a change and/or continue down the successful path that you’re on. Now, it’s time to get busy. I’m a firm believer that getting off to a fast start sets the tone for a successful year. My 2024 started in December 2023 by setting up potential business opportunities, partnerships, and collaborations. My experience has taught me that cultivating meaningful relationships takes time and having strong relationships is essential to both our personal and professional lives. I’m not really a resolutions person because I always have goals that I’m constantly working towards. However, I focus my sights on expectations. Performing and delivering better than expected. That has always been my MOA, which probably stems from being an athlete and being doubted… a lot, and I’m trying to teach my kids to adopt a similar mindset.
You can’t argue with success. But I’ve had way more failures than successes. A lot more. I’m a dreamer, visionary, and optimist, but sometimes even the most positive of attitudes can be knocked down by failure. But the two things that keep me going are my faith and my family. There have been many days that have tested my will to move forward and during those most challenging of times I’ve learned to just keep taking steps. The first step leads to the rest of what you’re trying to accomplish.
I hope this new year brings you more joy, love, friendships, successes, and peace of mind. As we recently celebrated Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., it reminds me of a saying that I always heard growing up in the African American community, especially in church that says, “Just keep on keeping on”, which means no matter what is happening in your life just keep on moving. So, as you experience the highs and lows that undoubtedly will come your way this year, make sure that you “Just keep on keeping on”. Enjoy FLM January.
