the world has

been turned

upside down due to the pandemic. Hundreds of thousands of lives were lost due to Covid, and many people became depressed from being quarantined for months on end, which took a tremendous toll on their health. And just when we thought life would get back to normal, we got hit with yet another variant that set us back once again. My lifestyle also took a deep dive both physically and mentally during the initial pandemic shutdown and it took me months to get back on track. Fitness buffs, health and wellness enthusiasts, yogis, spa goers and just regular folks are all looking to transform their lives in some sort of way. Because many people are searching for specific fitness classes or a customizable spa and wellness experience, they typically purchase memberships and/or class passes from more than one place. However, BIÂN, a new “sanctuary”, as described by their CEO Joe Fisher, might be the best new wellness concept on the planet that will fulfill ALL of your wellness needs.

BIÂN is housed in Chicago’s iconic Montgomery Ward building. I recently had a chance to check out the 25,000 square ft square health club and I must say, it’s impressive! It features a fitness center, med spa, restaurant, and doctor’s office under one roof. It also has a co-working/lounge space that can be used as a remote workplace for its members. What else makes BIÂN unique are a few different spaces where members can chill and relax such as a Listening Room with over 1,500 vinyl records for some music therapy, a Nap Room equipped with a Hastens bed for a brief cat nap or full 90-minute sleep to break up the day, and a Zen Lounge to lay your head back and enjoy some quiet time. I took a peek inside the men’s locker room and discovered a cold plunge pool inside a steam room that looked inviting and refreshing but unfortunately, I didn’t have time to indulge. Next time!
