we’re standing on the tipping point of a climate crisis. This is truly a challenging task. I was thinking about the personal changes I will make at some point that will be a small contribution to our planet. They will obviously be baby steps, but incorporating them into my daily life as healthy habits will go a long way.
It will start with grabbing my morning coffee from my local coffee shop and instead of using the plastic cup, I’ll bring my own reusable one. I’ll carry my own fabric bag and eliminate using plastics altogether and also stop using disposable face masks. All of these changes will help to reduce waste piling up in the oceans. These small changes can be easily done with very little effort. I just need to be consistent and stick to it for a couple of weeks to make sure it becomes a part of my daily routine. As I know that an animal-based diet is a huge polluter of our planet, my prime aim is to start consuming a more planet friendly diet. I have already been eating as a pescatarian for most of the time, but I’d like to go a step further and reduce my animal products consumption. The main focus will be to consume more organic, natural plant-based food grown locally. This starts from shopping local and trying to buy fresh, organic, unpacked seasonal products. Going to the markets and supporting local farmers who grow organic in season food is a great way to support, not only the local farmers, but also our planet. This will also mean spending more time in the kitchen preparing my food rather than eating out, which helps me to control the ingredients I use, portion size, and reduces the waste of food.
