Personally, success is an ongoing process of setting realistic goals in which I put my passion, energy, time, and persistence. I think that passion and persistence are my biggest drivers to succeed. This helps me to overcome failure which goes hand in hand with success. Every time I experience a failure and struggle to meet my definition of success, I do not give up but push myself harder and persist that I am actually already on the way to success. It is a journey of failure which helps us to grow and become stronger and resilient.
As I grew older, my personal journey of success has been reshaped over the years. As an expatriate who has spent almost a half of my life in different countries and cultures around the globe, I define my personal success as the ability to keep mentally flexible to be able to lead that kind of life. On my journey I try to embrace, contribute, and keep learning from every single destination I live. Success for me is to make a few friends and maintain our friendship regardless where I move next, a success is to see my children grow up in different cultures and become global, tolerant, and open-minded citizens of this world with good values which they can apply in their life.
Success for me is to allocate a certain amount of time to volunteering without any financial expectations for my contributions to this world. A success is experiencing and embracing a single moment or situation which makes me laugh. A success is to keep learning new things and being inquisitive. Sometimes it can be a small achievement, such as trying a new recipe which turns out well and ultimately becoming my favorite one. The bottom line is setting realistic dreams which I peruse with passion and focus and sticking to them.
