Daphne Ortiz is a freelance publicist covering clients in film, TV, sports, lifestyle, fashion, beauty, healthcare, and non-profits. She began her career at a tech PR firm working at some of the industry’s top celebrity PR firms. Ortiz was a member of the publicity team for New Line Cinema film studio and worked on films such as The Notebook and The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King that swept the 2003 Academy Awards. In 2007, she decided to pursue a freelance career enabling her to work alongside former colleagues and various companies. Ortiz commutes between Chicago and Los Angeles and has offices in both cities.

Vanessa de Waal is the founder and CEO of flöka. After going through a ten-year wellness journey, she realized she could have shaved years off the struggle had she been able to unlock the insight in the wellness data she already had. In a world with big gaps in women’s health research and where everybody is unique, she envisioned a future where personalized data science be made accessible to women everywhere. On a mission to de-silo and make the industry collaborative, she’s motivated by supporting the best possible health of flöka’s users. Vanessa read Psychology and International Relations (B.A.) at the University of British Columbia which she credits as foundational to her enthusiasm for systems thinking. Outside of the office, she enjoys skiing with her family, hiking, art and long walks in the woods.
