Eat more. Vegetables that is. Try adding two more servings of greens a day. I eat spinach with egg whites almost every morning and on a recent doctor visit was told I must be eating greens because my blood was a deeper color which they said was healthy. Broccoli contains tons of awesome vitamins like B and C and minerals like calcium and potassium and has cancer-fighting capabilities along with Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower and kale. Look for veggies with rich sources of beta-carotene to enhance your immune system and lower the risk of free radicals – think dark green leafy, also peppers and orange things like carrots and sweet potatoes.
My fave nutrition/meal tracking app – MyFitnessPal – Calorie Counter & Diet Tracker. I think I eat healthy, until I enter everything I’m eating into this app, and WOW, am I wrong. This app keeps me motivated and accountable, helping me track macronutrients, showing me which foods are highest in protein or fat and the vitamin and mineral content. It even shows my friends that track – competitive? Who me? For tips on where to find good greens or how to score the season’s best, check out Locavore and Harvest.
