The prestigious 2017 Sundance Film Festival, founded by Robert Redford and now in it’s 33rd year, is set to take place in the quaint and quiet ski town of Park City, Utah, January 19-29. However, the town is anything but quiet during the festival as it bursts to life, bringing over 40,000 people to see any number of the hundreds of films or listen to music or participate in virtual reality events and panel discussions. There truly is something for everyone who loves movies.

Comedic talents Jack
Black and Jenny Slate
star in “The Polka King,”
a story about the rise and fall of Polish emigre Jan Lewan who was the “King of Pennsylvania Polka.” Woody Harrelson and Laura Dern team up to give us a hilarious yet dramatic story about long-lost love and responsibilities of parenthood. And for moms everywhere, Molly Shannon and Toni Collette star in “Fun Mom Dinner” where a little bit of overindulgence leads to a lot more than they bargained for. While there doesn’t seem to be a weak link in the lineup, there is one more standout which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival---”Colossal.” Anne Hathaway (Gloria) returns to her hometown to deal with her internal struggles only to find out that she is somehow controlling a monstrous catastrophe halfway around the world. It’s a unique genre-blending female-centric film not to be missed.
