3.Food and Cocktails

Food and cocktails can initially set the mood for any event. Fun and festive, simple and elegant, or bold and daring are just a few ways to describe how a mood could be set. A lot of party goers’ rate how great a party is based on what type of delectable’s and libations are served. I always think it’s great for guests to be greeted with a cocktail or sample of food at the door. It announces that you’re ready for them to have a great time and a great way to kick off the evening with a bang. Creating a cocktail menu is a nicely added touch that could help guests make easy decisions on what to indulge throughout the night. No matter what type of party you’re throwing make sure to serve what is appropriate for that occasion. Finger food or passed hors d’oeuvres are great for mixing and mingling, but a sit down dinner or food stations may be best for more formal outings. Themed cocktails are always a hit for festive events and champagne or sparkling wine for more elegant fetes.

4.Music

Now here is where you can set the vibe. Music tends to get things moving in the right direction. Hire a DJ that knows how to read the room and play music that will get people heads bobbing. If you don’t have a DJ then create a play list that will kick start your desired vibe. Streaming sites like Pandora, iTunes, and Spotify will help you choose artists and songs that you want to hear. Go one step further and map out a playlist for the beginning, middle and end of the party. Music at 7 pm during cocktail hour could be vastly different than music blasting at 12 am. Again, a diverse mix will help to provide everyone with a familiar flavor that they can enjoy. It’s also not a bad idea to expose guests to party tunes that they may not hear outside of your event. People are always eager to discover something new that they can in turn introduce to others.
