Radio Host vs Party Planner. Actually, it could have gone either way 30+ years ago. I'm glad I decided to be a radio host, but I must say I do get my party planning fix as often as I can. I think it has to do with my theater influence during my younger years. When I host a party it's not just a bag of chips, some music and a party hat. NOOOO! I take it to the nth degree. The first theme party I hosted was a surprise birthday party for my sister. I wanted my audience (guests) to be transported to a luau on the island of Tonga in the South Pacific. The conch horn echoed over the lake by my house and then from out of nowhere the colorful Mai-kai dancers run in twirling flaming batons and hula dancers entice with hips that move faster than imaginable. The giant tiki hut next to the pool hid the birthday cake that looked like a sandy beach with 30 tiny tiki candles and the floating flower bouquet in the pool just added to the production. She was beyond surprised!
