There are many harmful stereotypes about Black fathers. As a public figure, explain whether you feel a responsibility to challenge these stereotypes, both in your personal and public life.

Yes, systematic racism has definitely played a part in stereotypes of Black Fathers. I do feel a responsibility because my father showed me the way. I must pass it on to my sons so that the example is passed down for generations. If each one of us commits to this act, that stereotype becomes another made up myth like all the others that have been made up about black men.

How have your relationships with other Black fathers shaped your own experience as a dad?

Yes. I have aligned myself with numerous black men that father just like me. We are all part of "Dad Frat!' I have learned from all of them to be more patient in my expectations of my boys.
