Finally, I try to stay gentle towards myself. With all that’s going on, stress piles up, and with it often comes the negative self-talk. I try to forgive myself for the inevitable slip-ups. I forgive myself if I miss my morning walk. I forgive myself if I’m just a jumbled mess for a few days.

I even try to forgive myself for not forgiving myself. Whatever happens, good, bad, or in between, is okay.

These practices do not suddenly make life an unbridled joy. I’ll admit, I’m still stressed about everything that’s going on. But they’re reminders to move through hectic times with joy and relaxation. Ultimately, I’m sure I’ll look back on everything I’m doing and say to myself, “wow, that was an amazing chapter.” So, I should remind myself to take it all in sometimes.
