10.5 Essential Tips for Startups

January I was in the early
days of full knee replacement surgery. My reality now is that I am several weeks, still recovering and going through serious physical therapy, but feeling a lot better and able to get back to the office and run my business…without a crutch, cane or walker. Woo hoo!
Speaking of business, while at home resting and recovering I had a very close friend ask for my advice and thoughts on a new business he is starting. I’ve been blessed to run a successful financial/insurance planning business for over 25 years and he has been successful in his own career, so it was my honor to share some thoughts with him and review his business plan…with my leg elevated and iced! As entrepreneurs we have to wear a lot of hats. We can be responsible for hiring, leading the team, making big decisions, and landing clients. On any given day, we might bounce between three different departments and coordinate efforts from a half dozen individuals and not even leave our own office. It is not enough to have a great idea. You also have to have the business skills to support that idea. Here are a few that I believe will help you and have been near and dear to my success.
