5. Jaws – This 1975 American film set the bar for shark terror. Directed by the great Steven Spielberg, Jaws is considered one of the best films ever made. It has been and still is the main reason why I don’t like swimming in the ocean. I’m deathly afraid to be eaten by a great white shark, even though the chances of that happening are very low. Nonetheless, I’m always very alert when I step out into the water. Whenever a rare shark attack does occur, people often refer to the incident as a Jaws attack. However, as I watch the movie today, it is amazing to see how fake and unrealistic the mechanical shark really was. But, for some reason it still messes with my psyche. Jaws success spawned other human fish eating movies like Piranha, Orca, and Sharknado that were not as successful on the big screen.
