Venice Italy: Venice Film Festival. First held in 1932, this festival takes place on the island of Lido in venice. Quite the locale. One of the ‘Big Three’ international film festivals, this is the oldest of the three.
Cannes, French: Cannes Film Festival. First held in 1946, this festival takes place each May in the Palas des Festivals et des Congres. Also one of the Big Three, this showcase of film is an invitation-only event. Talk about grand.
Berlin, Germany: Berlin International Film Festival. Although it first began in 1951, it was established annually in February in 1978. Though this is one of the Big Three film festivals, it is one of the largest publicly attended film festival around the world. With around four hundred films exhibited, this is something you don’t want to miss.

Toronto, Canada: Toronto International Film Festival. Founded in 1976, this festival is usually held in September. Over time, it has grown into one of the most influential international film festivals, and if you want hints and hypotheses about the Oscars, this is the festival for you.
Tribeca film festival is held in Manhattan, New York. It was founded in 2002, supposedly in response to the 9/11 attacks. It will run April 13-24 2016.
Havana, Cuba: The Havana Film Festival was founded in 1979, making it the oldest, continuous film festival in the Caribbean. It focuses on all types of Latin American film and is held in December, and will be from December 3rd-13th 2016.
