You hail from Chicago, but your career has allowed you to live in both Los Angeles and New York. Explain how Los Angeles and New York differ in terms of their creative energy and opportunities.
I love Los Angeles. I have had some great work experiences. I have good friends there and I’ve met some of the most creative people you can imagine. I can call a few of them my friends. L.A. was perfect for work and when I was single. But, being surrounded by those SUPER TYPE A personalities that can’t stop/won’t stop really doesn’t transfer well to family life and having kids.
The energy in New York is amazing to me, but it’s different. It doesn’t revolve around Hollywood. There is so much more culture and differences and life. Some families have been there for generations. It’s more grounded. Most people from L.A. are from somewhere else. Very transient. I love working in both places.
