RAMSEY PRINCE
Three Portraits: A Man in Motion
BY JAMES GUSTIN
amsey Prince of
Burlesque Royale Chi
and RJP Designs
reigns in two not so different worlds of event design and burlesque. I know Ramsey from his industry tenure where he demonstrates his out of this world charmed gentlemanly knack for the creation of compelling environments and curated experiences. Details. Manufacturing. Play. Take that vision to the stage and there we see Ramsey’s energy and
intention flummox the
flatness and turn the
basement that is now the
latest home of Jim Flint’s
Baton Show Lounge into a
true cabaret right out of a
Fosse movie. He makes his
signature known.
Distinctive. Provocative.
Titillating.
Ramsey’s thoughtfulness
and rebellion flow into the
existential as his ideas are
trips to the never never.
Wings. Skirts. Bodies.
Bounce. Flounce. Prince’s
tethered moments of imagination explode onto stage and human to form shapes that I cannot un-see. Not that I want to. Dancers. Singers. Actors. Butts. Fun. Show men make his landscape and manifest his textured narrative. That said, Ramsey promises more than his conversation, his work is pure life and fight. Ramsey’s passions and obsessions are all on the stage, he has little to hide that is not of a man from the twenty first century full of complications. Three sixty all around, Prince is a man of storied courage and expression. He's got a vision without boundary.
