Publisher's Note

Here we are. Another year has passed as we prepare to celebrate the holidays once again. So many life-changing moments can happen within a year, both good and bad. However, there are a lot of things that we should be grateful for as we say goodbye to 2022 and welcome in the new year. I’m grateful for having the opportunity to embark upon new opportunities, travel, coach my youngest football team, watch my oldest thrive in high school, and spend time with family and good friends that are like family. Most of us may have experienced some sort of challenges during the year whether it’s a family member or friend passing away, the loss of a job, relationship, friendship, pet, or something else that was an important part of our lives. I was not spared from some of those either, but overall, most of my setbacks and challenges are temporary.

I recently asked both of my sons if they could have three wishes what would they wish for? I was floored by their responses. For both, at the top of their list was world peace. Second was for climate change, and only their third wish related to something materialistic. Even as an adult world peace didn’t come to mind as being at the top of my list, but at that moment I realized that in their eye’s life was more important than material possessions. We’ve often talk about that as a family, but as a parent it made me proud to hear that they were thinking about others before themselves. With crime, hatred towards certain groups, and just plain old meanness at an all-time high, right now my wish for you this holiday season is peace, love, and a world of happiness. Give some thoughts about helping folks less fortunate than you before the year ends and do something that could change their lives for a moment, a day, or even a lifetime. Enjoy our Holiday issue and I hope to see you next year.
