“SELFIE” was the word of the year in 2013. Today we can a take a selfie and in a few simple seconds share them with thousands of people online at any time. Why do we share so many photos of ourselves on social media and why do we care so much about what others say or think about our lives? Is sharing our photos a way to figure out who we are or how we think others see us? Whether we like this or not, the impact that others have on our self-value has increased. Taking a selfie is not a bad thing nor is it evil, but maybe we should reconsider what we’re taking the most photos of. Try to only take pictures with family and friends for a while and focus pictures more on the important events in your life. See which type of photo is worth more to you in the long run.

The Holidays are a memorable time of year. It can be difficult to make lasting memories if we simply gaze through a camera lens. This holiday season and maybe the whole year, I challenge you to be present while taking photos and only take them of people and places that are special to you. Let’s change the world together by making lasting memories and by experiencing life through our own eyes - and take pictures later.
