December 6th-December 14th- Chanukah.
Celebrates the miracle of the Maccabis beating the Greeks and the Menorah staying lit for eight days. Traditionally, this Jewish holiday is celebrated with potato pancakes, known as latkes, and dreidel (or ‘spinning top’) games.
December 21st-December 25th- Pancha Ganapati.
This Hindu festival celebrates Lord Ganesha, patron of the arts. This holiday focuses on family and the idea of fixing past mistakes and starting anew.
December 22nd- Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere.
Though some attach religious significance to it, whatever your beliefs are, it is an incredible astronomical event you do not want to miss!
December 23rd - Eid Milad un Nabi.
An Islamic religious celebration of the birth of Muhammad the Prophet. Centered around religious traditions and discussions.
December 25th- Christmas. Celebrates Jesus’s birth. Families usually decorate a tree in the house and put presents under it to open on Christmas day. There is an emphasis on family and, of course, a huge dinner that no holiday is complete without.
December 26th-Jan 1st- Kwanzaa.
This Pan-African and African-American holiday that focuses on celebrating African roots and culture.
December 31st- New Year’s Eve.
