or more than
two decades,
Chicagoans
knew Rob Johnson as the trusted voice delivering the news, asking the tough questions and sharing the stories that mattered. I was one of those people watching him on local television, witnessing firsthand the professionalism, credibility and communication skills that helped make him an Emmy Award-winning journalist.
Today, Rob is telling a different kind of story, one about
transition, entrepreneurship and helping others find their voice.
After more than 20 years in journalism, Rob made the leap from collecting a W-2 to becoming a full-time entrepreneur, launching Rob Johnson Communications, where he now helps executives, business leaders and organizations communicate with greater clarity, confidence and impact. In many ways, he is taking everything he perfected in front of the camera and bringing it into the boardroom.
That transition is at the heart of his new book, Over Communicate: A Guide for Business Executives and Business Leaders. More than simply a book about speaking,
it reflects the lessons Rob learned throughout a career built on preparation, credibility, storytelling and understanding how to connect with an audience.
Having watched Rob’s career evolve from the anchor desk to entrepreneurship, I have little doubt that this next chapter will be every bit as successful as the last. The difference is that now, instead of sharing other people’s stories on the ten o’clock news, Rob is helping executives tell their own stories and communicate in a way that can move people, build trust and drive results.
His transition is already making an impact, and through his book and hands-on work with leaders, Rob is proving that sometimes the best way to move forward is to take everything you’ve learned from the past and use it to help others succeed.
