Twenty-five years ago, during the early cultural emergence of Miami Art Basel week, I first introduced Ema Savahl’s work into the Miami cultural landscape through an activation featuring models staged as living sculptures in a reflective pool installation in an iconic downtown Miami skyscraper.
At the time, Ema herself did not attend, remaining intentionally distant, allowing the work to exist independently of its creator.
That moment now feels aligned with history: Art Basel Miami celebrates 25 years this December, mirroring the timeline of this creative collaboration and the city’s evolution as a global cultural hub.
Years later, a casual dinner brought us together for the first time, marking the beginning of a lifelong friendship and creative alignment.
