How One Conversation Lead to Courage

“Do you play ball?”
“Hoop? No, why do you ask?” I said
“I don’t know, maybe because of your shoulders. You look like a ball player. Do you like them like that?”, Deon asked. I retort, “My shoulders? Yes, I do. I made them.”
Deon Taylor and I bust out into laughter as this may have been the funniest introduction I’ve ever had. The inquisitive detail of Deon’s question I found humorous with the realization that as a director and producer he seeks to find the perspective to generate meaning in a film.
