For example, when we get our hair done, we tend to go where we feel most comfortable in an intimate setting and can express ourselves and listen to our stylist. This person also adopts the title as our counselor in some cases. This person has a tremendous influence on our life. We sit in their chair feeling less than great sometimes and minutes to hours later our mood shifts to sometimes feeling terrific or outstanding. Although this is a business exchange, we come back to the same people year after year for the personal interaction. Homage must be paid to these miracle workers.

Insert Sarah Thompson. Sarah has been my stylist of over 4 years and has taken me from long, to blond, to short, and all the way back around. When you visit her website: Freyjachicago.com, you will find a picture of me and that’s exactly how we met. A friend referred me to model for her site and our instant connection during the styling and photoshoot has helped my life evolve in ways that I will forever appreciate.

The times I felt embarrassed by the state of my hair due to thyroid conditions, she helped me feel beautiful and confident. In this hair process she became my client as well and I’ve taught her fitness training techniques to elevate the state of her own health and wellbeing. During this exchange I realized we had grown with each other and I soon looked at Sarah as a friend.

I asked Sarah to share some of her thoughts about her business:

“I think a common misconception about this industry is that it’s just hair and it shouldn’t be taken seriously. What should be taken seriously is the effect a great hairstyle has on a person. Sometimes it’s about the fact that the client has finally mustered up enough courage to try something they’ve always wanted to try and sometimes it’s about letting go of a version of themselves they’ve held onto for too long.”

With any interaction in life we are looking for more. We have expectations that are innate from our upbringing. These people shape and mold our past, present and future selves and their influence is what many times broadens our scope of thought.

That said, check out this product I love.
