Every month we try to bring you interesting and entertaining articles from many diverse points of view. But this month I think our writers have gone beyond pure entertainment. I simply love this month’s “Heroes” topic and I am so inspired by the stories we are sharing with you.
Being a hero can take many forms as you will see from the stories of overcoming life’s challenges to breaking color barriers to even soaring to Olympic greatness. And we’re reminded that you don’t have to be famous and change the world to be a hero. Everyday people in this world are saving lives and inspiring others with simple, humble acts that often go unnoticed and unappreciated without media attention; our unsung heroes. And it’s not just other people. Each of us, alone and working together, can make a difference in the lives we touch. A courageous act need not be grand to be heroic. We can take small actions every day that result in a ripple effect across the world.
Look around you, not just at the amazing Olympic athletes we see winning medals, but your parents, your teachers, and even police officers; there are heroes everywhere. If you open your eyes and your hearts you will see random acts of kindness and selfless dedication to improve the plight of others against odds that often seem insurmountable. I hope you are inspired to show a little gratitude to the heroes in your life and maybe even be a little more heroic in your own.
