Yadav's hope for the film is to start a conversation about these real situations. She said, “And just recognizing you have a problem is the first step in change.” Yadav also shared that many of her actors have personally experienced, sometimes firsthand, what is depicted in the film. With her deft direction and understanding, actors found this to be therapeutic, allowing them to see things in a different light and move forward in a positive way.
Yadav, a courageous filmmaker, speaks up for those who dare not. This “invisible hero” tells a real life story with skill and heart allowing us to see through cultural barriers. As she says, “It’s OUR story.” She encourages us all to discuss beliefs that are limiting such as those in her film.
Yadav has her own personal heroes that have influenced her. Her mother first came to mind, but then Yadav’s voice became shaky, perhaps holding back a tear as she described a very special woman: Meta. This beautiful and courageous woman has had a very traumatic and difficult life, yet she brings love to Yadav’s house every day by means of cooking. As she enters the Yadav household, she lets go of her situation and creates food. But based on Yadav’s passion in her voice, Meta creates more than food … she creates inspiration. And that is a true hero. Who is your invisible hero?
