There’s something about that first real hint of spring that feels like a reset. After months of layering up to battle the cold, we finally get the chance to peel it all back and reintroduce ourselves to lighter, more expressive style. But in Chicago, spring doesn’t exactly arrive, it negotiates.

One day you’re reaching for sunglasses, the next you’re digging back into the coat closet. And if you’re part of a youth sports family like mine, you know the drill all too well—baseball games where you can experience sunshine, rain, and a biting chill all in a single afternoon. It’s unpredictable, it’s inconvenient… and somehow, it’s part of the charm.

Still, I’m not letting the possibility of one last cold snap steal the joy of stepping into spring fashion.

In my opinion, spring offers the most versatile wardrobe of any season. It’s where style and comfort find their sweet spot. Blazers layered just right, denim that works day to night, footwear that doesn’t have to fight the elements, it’s fashion without compromise. You can show up polished without overheating, relaxed without looking underdressed. That’s the balance I look forward to every year.

In this issue, we lean all the way into that spirit. We spotlight one of the country’s most exciting emerging designers, Stephane St. Jaymes, whose precision and craftsmanship are redefining modern elegance. Alongside that, we’ve curated fashion insights, practical style tips, and a look at how innovation and technology are shaping the way we dress today.

So whether you’re cautiously testing the waters with a light jacket or going all in on your spring wardrobe, now’s the time to bring those pieces from the back of the closet to the front and maybe discover a few new favorites along the way.

Here’s to dressing well, feeling great, and embracing the season—whatever it decides to do next. Enjoy the FLM April issue.
