Publisher's Note

Spring has sprung, and for me that means allergies, little league baseball, and farmers markets are back. With the warmer temperatures I welcome the ditching of layers that are necessary to wear throughout the cold Chicago winter, although I must admit this past winter was very mild, but what I like most about this time of year is spring fashion. The brisk morning still requires a light jacket or sweatshirt to be worn but by the time afternoon rolls around I can be sleeveless. I love wearing blazers that can either be dressed up or down and during April through May, I’m neither too hot nor too cold donning a jacket inside or out.

When you live in a city like Chicago, you learn to appreciate many things like clear and sunny days, which are few and far between during the winter months. And on those clear days I love seeing people hit Lake Michigan and our beautiful parks, running, biking, playing baseball, volleyball, soccer, and anything their active heart desires. Chicagoans are actually pretty active throughout the entire year, but the city really comes alive during spring and summer.

Activity and fashion usually go hand in hand. Athleisure wear makes it possible for us to look good even when we’re getting our sweat on. Now you can go from the gym to brunch and no one would ever suspect that you just finished taking a yoga class. Our April cover story features Kayla Jeter who combines fitness and fashion like no other. I was excited to learn more about her incredible journey and accomplishments as she has inspired hundreds of thousands of people around the world. I hope you enjoy her story too along with the rest of our fabulous articles. Get up, get out, and get moving. Have a great spring.
