Ahhh… the smell, the sounds, and the warmth of Spring. Aside from the irritating seasonal allergies that I experience around this time of year, Spring probably ranks a close second (summer is first) to being my favorite season. It’s also around this time of year, especially in Chicago, when folks come out of hibernation. Warmer weather and longer days allow us to ride bikes, jog along the lake, flood the parks, and dine al fresco. In my house, April kicks off a season of sports for my two boys; baseball, soccer, football, and tennis will dominate our calendar for the foreseeable future and when they don’t have practice or a game, they will carry every ball they own to the park to play with dad. A lot of designers release their new Spring fashion lines right about now, a sign that it’s time to ditch our winter layers, wear brighter colors, and show our style. Spring really signifies a major shift in our attitude… and that’s a good thing.
This month’s issue is powerful, because we don’t only celebrate spring and fashion, but we also highlight the ugliness of beauty. I hope the personal stories that our contributors share resonates with women and men around the world. We also share valuable tips on everything from yoga to cleaning up your finances that will enhance your lifestyle.
