Lastly, the transaction doesn't end after the showings. We've now had to adjust the way that we handle appraisals, inspections, final walk-throughs, and then actual closings. The inspectors are now doing their inspections alone and then connecting with the buyers afterward whereas before, the buyers were always present. Many appraisals are now being completed just from the exterior and from pictures that were provided from the actual listing. Final walk-throughs are being conducted with just a couple people at a time going into the home and practicing social distancing and of course, using every measure possible to sanitize the home. We wear gloves, masks and wipe down every doorknob and keep all lights on.

Closings are now actually being completed curbside where the buyers pull up to the title company and the closers come out and hand him the paperwork and then collect when finished. We are not allowed to attend these closings so the best we can do is keep connected through video and stay close to our phones to handle any situations that arise. It certainly isn't as personable as it has been in the past, which is unfortunate, but everyone understands and staying connected through video is more important than ever.
