As I’ve said before, this global health pandemic can frankly be a positive thing. It can give us a little (or a rather big) nudge towards remembering our inner power and connecting to it. So, while we are staying in our homes, here are some tips on managing your lifestyle.
1. Ground yourself, connect to the earth, go to higher ground.
Literally, find time every morning to pray, mediate, concentrate, look to the sky whatever you want to call it, but connect with your inner spirit. No matter what your belief system is use this time to slow down and connect!
While you are reading this, close your eyes and focus on the one thing that makes you smile…all the time. Maybe it’s a hug from your spouse, or children or awesome friend. It’s spring and yes, we are “inside” but spring has always been about renewal and revitalizing our lives. I was born in April and have used it as a time to reconnect with the universe and now that is needed more than ever…trust me.
2. Send healing thoughts to the earth.
Whenever you feel overwhelmed, practice sending love and peaceful, healing energy to the entire planet…don’t laugh, smile! I think the planet can use some help right now. By doing so, it focuses your mind towards positivity and caring for others. It gives you a wider sense of perspective and makes you feel useful. Energy is catching too; good moods beget good moods! Spread a feeling of kindness and positivity and uplift others with your “good vibration”. Thanks Beach Boys!!
You can sit quietly and just focus on sending energy and healing to all parts of the Earth that need it. If you understand vibrational energy, you know that it can be received through time and space. Your positive thoughts matter.
3. Express yourself and release fear.
I highly recommend finding a positive outlet for your feelings during this time. With so much on the news, text messages, social media etc., you could
be absorbing too much negative information. I actually caught myself recently when I realized 15 minutes had gone by…and it was all because of following posts on Twitter.
Whenever you come across some disturbing news or something that makes you feel anxious, don’t just hold it in or push it away, release it in one of the following ways:
Write in a journal. Expressing yourself in words can be so healing and helps to remove the weight of negative information.
Paint and express yourself in art. Expressing yourself through painting, molding in clay, sketching, whatever you like, can help release pent-up feelings and negative energy through expression.
Dancing or playing an instrument. Having a quick high energy dance break is a great way to release tension, let off steam, and change your mood. If you play an instrument, “Go blow your horn”. Yeah baby!
