Well, what can I say? Who would have thought about a month ago that we would be held hostage by a virus that won’t allow us to go outside, hang with friends, visit our loved ones, and keep us from enjoying life as we once knew it. Well, that is our reality and the world is fighting to regain control of something that is somewhat out of our control. But I think this tragedy we call a pandemic has really brought the best out of most of us. We’ve been forced to adjust and become creative in ways that we’ve never imagined. Who would have thought that having a virtual dinner party would be so much fun? Or catching up with cousins that live hundreds of miles away on a Zoom video would be the highlight of your weekend? We now bow down to the fact that we all need some sort of interaction with people to maintain a certain level of sanity and even seeing a smile on someone else’s face can be much appreciated.
Through all the mask wearing, hand sanitizing, virtual high fives, hugs and birthday celebrations, we are humbled by what is taking place in our communities and globally. Covid-19 has not discriminated in taking lives, but it has awoken a spirit within us that we may have never known existed. Yes, our lives have temporarily been disrupted, but once we get back to “normal” we will have become better people because of it. This month’s issue is dedicated to all of the healthcare workers battling this virus on the frontlines, the policemen and firefighters working to keep us safe, the essential service workers that are allowing us to shop in stores, restaurant owners trying to maintain business in order to keep their doors open, dedicated principals and teachers that are making it easier for parents to homeschool our kids, and last but not least, all of the victims that have tragically lost their lives due to the coronavirus. God Bless.
