Me Too or Miscue?

o-touching has become a trend. Touchy-feely workplaces have become antiquities. While a “playful” pat on the derriere was once underplayed, today even an embrace can ruin a reputation, unravel a well-wrought career. Recently, women have come out of the woodwork leveling allegations against former Vice President Joe Biden, claiming that they were violated by his unsolicited, inappropriate gestures of affection. Though the women were careful to qualify that their accusations weren’t intended to have MeToo implications, they impugned that his gestures weren’t in apropos because they were sensual, but because they were nonconsensual. And yet publicly, these events are being contested and contextualized within the broader framework of MeToo. With progression of this paradigm, the zeitgeist is increasingly expressing a zero tolerance towards a latitudinous litany of offenses.
