Lastly, you want to embrace and integrate the quality by finding its gifts and taking bite-sized, regular actions to strengthen its muscle. Brené Brown submits “Cultivating Creativity: Letting Go of Comparison” as one of her “10 Guideposts for Wholehearted Living”, so for me, creativity is an essential gateway into a life well-lived. I now take action to cultivate it by regularly practicing art, and have worked to let go of comparison by, ironically, putting myself on the chopping block and exposing myself to people’s criticism (to my surprise, what I’ve largely received is exactly the opposite … risking vulnerability has, in fact, reaped many rewards). Case in point—displaying at the art show I mentioned. It was an open call—anyone could have hung their work, so I wasn’t singled out as being special to participate. However, being that I am also a self-love practitioner, I’m giving myself a huge pat on the back for walking through all my fears and shadows; the ones that scream, “I am a fraud and a joke, that I don’t have what it takes”, etc., and doing it anyway. In taking small actions to follow my heart and reclaim my creativity, ultimately I made huge strides towards my vision of riding my life experience to its fullest through continued jaunts to whole new levels of extraordinary.

Next up- “filthy rich”. Unfortunately, since I’ve never been one to do things half-assed, I seem to have accidentally reclaimed “starving” along with “artist”. Stay tuned …
