with the QUALITY of your food? That’s the key right there! It’s not about depriving yourself of that once-in-a-while burger, but rather it’s about trying to find a healthier option, such as an organic or grass-fed burger, which many stores (even Costco!) are now carrying. Add greens like spinach, chard or arugula to alkalinize the acidity from the burger, lose the bun and add fruit juice-sweetened organic ketchup. Do you have any idea what is lurking in your ketchup? Allow me to enlighten you: the highest pesticide-residue of any fruit is the tomato, containing high fructose, which also means MSG/monosodium glutamate and most likely genetically-modified to boot. What is appealing about that? These toxins wreak havoc on the body and cause many of the most unattractive side-affects. The first sign I detect on my clients when they are not in balance is bad breath coming from the bile duct and gut, which is responsible for 85% of the immune system and typically both depleted in beneficial bacteria and over-burdened with a multitude of bad bacteria.

Breath is the first thing that I smell on my clients, and it tells me so much about their health! A shortage of good bacteria, after years, can lead to foul breath coming from your putrefying gut. Sounds lovely, right? And it doesn’t end there! Just imagine the amount of yeast, fungus, parasites and mold collecting in your gut from a diet consisting of mostly-toxic chemicals, rotting alkalinized-meat and antibiotic/steroid-laden food. These examples are in most of what we eat - even in some of the finest restaurants. And when toxic residue starts to infiltrate your bloodstream and lymphatic system, it eventually takes a huge toll on your organs, tissue and skin. Your metabolism gets sluggish, creating an over-abundance of adipose/fat in which chemicals hide out for years, leading to all-manner of disease, including cancer.

For most people, it takes a health-catastrophe to decide to take the plunge into a healthier lifestyle. Once you go clean, it is an absolute awakening. People who live this lifestyle notice changes immediately - they feel more energized, sleep better, think more clearly and have that ‘healthy glow’. If you try to go back to your old ways, you will have an immediate negative response. Fair warning: you might even become a bit of a health-snob. After living in a healthy environment for his entire life, my son, a high school student, is turned off when he watches a female ‘friend’ lick her orange-stained fingers from her spicy Cheetos and wash it down with a diet cola. He is grossed out! While all of his friends find this girl ‘hot,’ my son thinks of her as a repulsive, toxic mess. Recently, a healthy natural foodie friend of mine – let’s call her Beth - was complaining about how awful it is to date when guys actually brag about their unhealthy beer-guzzling nights out accompanied by late-night binges on entire pizzas, while picking on her for maneuvering around an unhealthy menu. I suppose it’s for these reasons that a hot new trend in dating is web sites dedicated to gluten-free, spiritually-enlightened or healthy fare meet ups.

Caring about what we put into our bodies/temples is the latest, hottest fashionable trend, which is why so many trendy spots today are catering to the needs of healthy foodies. It really doesn’t take much to find the healthy alternatives to what we love to eat; they’re everywhere!
