Steep Canyon Rangers Why We Chose Them The Steeps make timeless North Carolina roots music; classic bluegrass with hippy undertones. Most of them, like The ‘Dusters, have put in their time as longhair, dashiki wearing, grilled cheese slinging car-dwellers. You may not see it beneath the suits and ties, but when I met them 14 years ago they were busking outside a coffee shop in downtown Durango, CO, sleeping in and around their van, traveling the country. They’ve come a long way but never forgotten where they’re from, that’s why I love them. —Travis Book, The Infamous Stringdusters The New Mastersounds Why We Chose Them A little over 10 years ago I heard this band cover a classic Sneaker Pimps song called “Six Underground” and I was immediately hooked to the bands classic and retro funk/soul sound. Having been involved with The All Good Music Festival since 2005 I also had the pleasure of seeing the band perform at that festival and ever since we started booking bands for The Festy this has been one band I have always wanted to invite to perform. —Justin Billcheck, Justin Billcheck Productions
