Review of City’s Community Work FESTIVE NEWS • DECEMBER 2014 • PAGE 35 by Tracy Morris, Community Development Officer This year the Annual Parish Meeting celebrated the work and achievements of community groups from within the City of Hereford through the Hereford City Community Group Achievement Awards. These groups, which are all made up of volunteers, work hard to improve community areas, have saved the tennis courts in the local park, delivered some fantastic free community events, and so much more. This year the overall winners of the awards impressed the judging panel by a staggering margin for their achievements in just one year and won £1,000 towards their next community project. This fledgling group, having only been running a year, also won the Hereford in Bloom Community Open Space Project Trophy. Congratulations to Grandstand Road Community Association. The Annual Parish Meeting also saw a presentation of the very prestigious’ Mayor’s Commendation’ which was awarded to Sally Hollingshead in recognition of all her hard work and dedication to North Tupsley Action Group and the community. This year has seen another successful year for the City in the Heart of England in Bloom Awards.
