TRACTORS ON PARADE An update from the Studios of Hereford Hospital Radio by Chris Hughes During the last 12 months we have had an exciting time, bringing new radio programmes to air presented by new volunteers who have join us. We have been busy developing our fund raising team, who have attended many more events in the City. This money helps keep the station running. We know that our station is nearly as popular as Radio 2 at the Hospital, and with the continued support of the Lions Club, we are available on the internet, so patients can listen to us at home, while they recover. We also have an app on the Apple store for your Iphone or Ipad, and you can down load it for free, LIONS NEWS IN BRIEF One of our most popular presenters Bob King has left us recently after presenting a regular weekly show every Thursday. Bob has a unique ability to bring sunshine to every show, and had many guests from far and wide to join him, to make the show, a virtual magazine on the air. Thanks Bob you will be missed, and we wish you and Pat well on your journey over the border to Scotland. If you would like to find out more about Hospital Radio, drop an email to info@hhr.org.uk, or call us on Hereford 233033. It was the annual Lions Tractor Run, one of the club’s more unusual fundraisers. It also gives all those men – and women – whose hobby is restoring classic tractors a chance to take their machines for a spin. Organiser Mike Hughes said, “It was a great route through some delightful countryside and everyone enjoyed the day.” stove tech Designers & Manufacturers of Merlin Stoves multi-fuel stoves Racing may have been abandoned at Hereford Racecourse, but city punters still have the chance to lay a bet or two on the horses – and they can do it in style while enjoying supper and drinks at the Lions annual Racenight. The next event is at the Shire Hall on Saturday, February 21 2015, first race at 7-30pm. A dozen or more top class races are shown on film and racegoers get very noisy shouting for the horse they have bet on to move faster. If you have not experienced the terrific atmosphere of Racenight why not make up a group of family or friends and book a table. It could also be your lucky night to back a winner!! Why not make up a table with family and friends – and enjoy a night at the races. Ring Peter Spearpoint on 01432 358289 to book tickets.. G BU EST E ILD 1984 IN NC G RE & AW G RE L ROOF REPAIRS PA G.
