And the most popular in Hereford is undoubtedly the charity boot sale staged by Hereford Lions Club each Saturday in Spring and Summer on the field opposite Bookers on Roman Road. In the four years it has been running the sale, described by its supporters as the ‘friendly’ event, has raised over £20,000 for the Lions community fund over the last 4 years to help local good causes. Hereford City Council funded the watering. Lion Club member, Ian Foster, is pictured showing Britain in Bloom judge Nicola Clarke one of the High Town planters sponsored by Lions. Said Ian: “It is important the city looks bright, cheerful and welcoming if it is to attract the extra visitors needed to boost the local economy.
