INDEPENDENCE

Bede Widdicombe is 15 but he has already undergone 18 major heart operations and can only walk very short
distances, a big restriction for a bright young teenager. He is one of only nine youngsters worldwide with his rare
heart condition.
Bede tries out his new trike
Colin Smith, vice-president of Hereford Lions added: “Bede has had to
rely on being pushed in a buggy but his new trike gives him some extra
independence and the chance to have some fun like other teenagers. As
Lions, it was our privilege to help a young lad whose mobility has been
restricted by his heart condition.”

LINK ROAD AND PARK AND RIDE
INCLUDED IN NEW HOMES PLAN
A link road connecting Hereford’s Roman Road with the A49 will be built if the proposed 460 home estate
on farm land at Holmer gets planning permission – plus a 350 car park and ride at the junction with the A49.
Details of the link road and long awaited park and ride facility were revealed by Bloor Homes at a public
consultation into their proposals, held at Holmer Church Centre. A spokesman for the company said Herefordshire Council had requested both be included in the draft plan which has yet to go before the planning
authority.
