This Christmas it is the turn of Jack and his
Beanstalk to take the stage at The Courtyard in
Hereford for the city’s annual dose of panto
magic. The show, which attracts an audience of
20,000, opens on Friday, November 28 and runs
to Sunday, January 4. It is a classic pantomime
story with fun and laughter galore for all the
family, Jack gets into trouble with his mum for
selling the family cow for just a bag of beans. She
chucks the bag out into the garden. Suddenly a
monster beanstalk appears. The fearless Jack
climbs to the top of it where he discovers an angry
giant. You will have to go to the show to find out
what happens to young Jack. But we can tell that
like pantomimes it has a happy ending.

Hereford probably stages more pantomimes
than any other town in England, three in all. The
Magna Theatre Company stages its annual
offering at Whitecross High School from
February 19 to 21, at 7-30pm. The Snow Queen is
an original script by Betty Morris who also

The city’ s oldest panto group, Hereford
Amateur Pantomime Society which was created
in the 1970’s out of the former Wiggin Pantomime
group originally founded by the workers at the
factory back in the 1960’s, has chosen the ever
popular ‘Sleeping Beauty’ for its 2015 production
at The Courtyard running in half term week,
February 18 to 21.The HAPS group has a
reputation for staging high class family friendly
