Herefordshire NHS has adopted the ‘Message in a Bottle’ scheme introduced nationally by Lions International and the
specially designed packs will now be available in all 26 GP surgeries across the county.
The idea of the
scheme is to help
medical or emergency
personnel called to a
home quickly have
access to an
individual’s personal
information including
medical background,
allergies, medicines
and next of kin. The
relevant information is
filled in on a prepared
form and put in the
pack provided to be
stored in an easily
accessible place. The
