Christmas Greetings
from Lions President
PAGE 2 • FESTIVE NEWS • DECEMBER 2015
I very much doubt if any of
us will celebrate Christmas
this year without thinking of
the terrible plight of the
refugees fleeing war torn
Syria and other Middle East
countries to find a safe haven
in Europe. For those that survived the journey from Hell
there will be no turkey dinner or sacks full of presents
for the kids. But at least they
have the gift of a new future
free of the deadly bombs destroying their homeland.
Some of the refugee families
will eventually settle in
Hereford and we must welcome them and help them
recover from the trauma of
their lives being ravaged by
war.
Thankfully, here in Hereford we are able to share the peace and joy of a traditional Christmas with family and
friends in the comfort of our own homes. Sadly, there are so many parts of the world
were violence, homelessness and poverty are the norm . Lions International is one of
the largest humanitarian organisations in the world but is still powerless in the face of
such evil.
Whilst our thoughts and prayers are with all those living in fear and hunger Christmas is the one time of the year when we ourselves gain strength and fortitude by sharing the festive celebrations with family and friends. So, גfW'fV
