Welcome to our “ 25th Anniversary Silver Bells Celebration ”
On behalf of the Board of Directors of Balloons Over Vermilion NFP , our generous sponsors , scores of designers and decorators , hundreds of volunteers and , most importantly , those organizations and local initiatives positively impacted by your support , we thank you for joining us for the 25th annual holiday celebration . In 1997 United Samaritans Medical Center Foundation took a leap of faith and introduced Festival of Trees to the Danville Area . After a year and half of planning for the first event , the doors to Festival of Trees were opened to the public and the community ’ s response was nothing short of remarkable . The affection and excitement for the event has continued to grow over the past 25 years as sponsors continue their support , designers amaze us with their talent , volunteers accept the task , and smiles are created all around !
We remain grateful for the support shown by the Julius W . Hegeler II Foundation whose involvement with
the festival and the hospital began with sponsorship of a single festival activity . Mr . Hegeler ’ s love of the Festival of Trees and the excitement it generated for the kids and families in the Danville area grew into what is now , and has been for several years , the Platinum Level Title Sponsor of the Festival of Trees as well as generating millions of dollars of donations to the local hospital for the Cancer Center and other needed facilities and equipment . One small donation has generated so much needed investment in our local medical facility .
The net proceeds from the Festival of Trees are combined with the net proceeds of Balloons Over Vermilion are donated back to the community in the form of Community Impact Grants to local agencies providing services to kids and families . In 2021 we were proud to be able to grant awards more than $ 150,000 to 17 different agencies . Your donation to Festival of Trees not only provides the community with a premier family event but helps individuals and families throughout the year by helping to fund the Community
Impact Awards . Your participation and attendance in the event today makes you a presenter along with the sponsors in the Community Impact Awards . So buy another cookie , raffle ticket or Children ’ s Area craft item and help us give even more back to our community .
We would not be presenting Festival of Trees for the 25th time were it not for the time , talent and treasure of our sponsors , designers , and volunteers , along with the tremendous support received from the entire community .
We believe that our mission statement captures the spirit of both of our events : “ It ’ s all about the kids !” While it ’ s so important to create lasting memories , it ’ s more important to demonstrate and act on our commitment to the health and well-being of all who make special events like Festival of Trees possible .

Children are invited to make craft projects and have some fun in an atmosphere that abounds with holiday creativity ! Paint an ornament , make a handprint memory or decorate a cookie with icing and sweets . The cost of projects ranges from $ 1 to $ 4 . Now located in Room 127 .
