The next head of Fessenden:
MUST HAVE
• Unquestioned integrity
• Superb communication skills, both oral and written
• Proven leadership capabilities, including having attracted a first-rate faculty
• Inspirational qualities that motivate others
• Proven success with a diverse population and all constituencies
• An abiding appreciation of boys and their development
• Strong administrative experience
• A love of and background in teaching and learning
• A passion for the unique mission of Fessenden
• A warm, outgoing personality
• A collaborative team leadership style
• A sense of humor
• Unbridled curiosity, relentless optimism, and boundless energy
SHOULD HAVE
• Taught and administrated at the elementary or middle level
• Worked in an independent school
• Experience in evaluating faculty, administration and program
• An advanced degree
MIGHT HAVE
• Worked in an all-boys environment
• Been a head of school
• Boarding school experience
• Familiarity with the Boston market and boarding schools
