FERNIE IN THE TIME OF COVID-19
Whenever it is safe to travel , Fernie will be ready to welcome you . Throughout 2020 , businesses worked to implement safety protocols , set up new practices and train staff to accommodate official requirements . Always with BCCDC requirements in mind , galleries , attractions , accommodations , restaurants and activity providers have planned carefully to be able to welcome visitors and help guests enjoy the very best of Fernie . We look forward to returning to normal as soon as possible , but until then we must all work together to stay safe .
The things we have gained , rather than those we have lost , have become a focus of Fernie life . Enjoy wide open spaces with room to roam and connect with close family and friends . Breathe the fresh clean air and stroll the boulevard of Historic Downtown Fernie . Plan to have a gentler vacation . Pick up a book to enjoy from Polar Peek Books and Treasures . Relax with a movie at the immaculately renovated Vogue Theatre or discover local crafts and goods at our many downtown boutiques . Try a calming snowshoe through Mt Fernie Provincial Park or learn cross-country skiing or fatbiking on one of our many trails . Wherever you chose to wander , make sure to take a camera , sketchbook or pocket paint set – around every turn is a new vista to inspire .
Fernie ’ s usually-vibrant dining and nightlife scene has taken on a slower pace . While larger events have been delayed , many bars and restaurants will host live music or other entertainment where possible ; check online calendars for details . Restaurants are carefully accommodating guests with smaller capacity , more space , and new sanitary practices . Many are now offering takeout options to complement in-house dining options or have waitlists or reservations available to reduce the need to queue . Fernie has adapted to give you the best possible experience . Please help to keep Fernie safe so that we may continue to welcome you all winter !
