THE COAL CREEK BARN
From 1898 until 1958, Coal Creek was a busy mining community
with a population of around 1,000. The pit ponies and mine
horses that were used to pull the coal cars were stabled here in
the only building of the Coal Creek Mine Operations that still
stands today. Once neglected and at risk of being torn down,
it has now been returned to its original use as a cozy equine
shelter. Drop by and meet the miniature ponies of the Fernie
Therapeutic Horse and Pony Club - Daphne, Sher and Cowboy.
The old barn is located just off Coal Creek Road in Fernie, next
to the parking area for Montane Trails.
