FEATURE PERFORMERS
Sounds like Fernie!
Music-lovers no longer need to wait
from weekend to weekend for the
next live music night as jam nights,
open mics and regular sets will flood
the weekly calendar this winter. There
was a time when the only sound heard
on a midweek evening in downtown
Fernie was the piercing whistle of the
approaching coal train; not so anymore.
Like the rhythm of wheels on rails, a
steady staccato of home-grown talent
now fills local bars almost every night of
the week to please all ears – and even
better, there are no cover charges.
Listen for the changes and try and
keep up as we welcome a whole fleet
of new seasonal musicians and their
instruments this winter! Here’s
the lowdown.
• Mondays – From 9pm, the Kodiak
Lounge has Fernie’s freshest
international flavour at backpacker
central, the Raging Elk Hostel.
Starting January, Zac’s back at
Rusty Edge to kick the week of with
an après ski Jam Night.
• Thursdays – The original act, Jam
Night at the Brickhouse. Seasoned
regulars welcome new sounds every
week, all year round, from 9pm.
• Fridays – Fridays - Live & Local -
live entertainment weekly 6-8pm at
The Loaf, and from 8pm at Infinitea.
(Remove bit about J-Skillz)
• Saturdays – Live bands weekly at
The Fernie Hotel including lots of
local talent.
• Sundays - The Sunday Sessions
every other week with resident
singing bartender J-Skillz 5-9pm at
The Pub at Park Place
Watch listings for some of Fernie’s
bigger local talents including Shred
Kelly, The Runs, and others taking
the stage at the Northern, The Fernie
Hotel and The Royal.
• Tuesdays – It’s your time to shine at
Shotgun Karaoke at The Royal with
Topo and Wedge, from 9pm.
• Wednesdays – Jam Night with Zac
at the Royal from 9pm. It’s live. It’s
loud. It could get messy!
